The Role: A Dynamic Duo of Research and Communication

The Research and Communications Officer will wear two hats, providing research support and driving effective communication strategies. This includes:

  • Conducting and transcribing interviews with civil society experts, ensuring their insights are heard.
  • Performing desk research to gather and verify information for CIVICUS publications, adding context to the data.
  • Contributing to the State of Civil Society Report and CIVICUS Lens outputs, shaping the narrative.
  • Designing media and social media strategies to promote research, reaching diverse audiences.
  • Pitching stories to journalists and managing editorial processes, sharing powerful narratives.
  • Creating visual content like infographics, making complex issues accessible.
  • Organizing webinars and events, engaging the public in CIVICUS's mission.
  • Collaborating with a multilingual team to produce and share content globally.

Qualifications: A Unique Blend of Skills

CIVICUS is looking for a talented individual with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, political science, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in English, with intermediate skills in French and/or Spanish.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in communications or research.
  • Knowledge of international civil society networks and intergovernmental institutions.
  • Understanding of global media and social media landscapes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in social media messaging and content creation.
  • Ability to simplify complex civic issues for various audiences.
  • Basic design skills using tools like Canva.
