The Role: A Dynamic Duo of Research and Communication
The Research and Communications Officer will wear two hats, providing research support and driving effective communication strategies. This includes:
- Conducting and transcribing interviews with civil society experts, ensuring their insights are heard.
- Performing desk research to gather and verify information for CIVICUS publications, adding context to the data.
- Contributing to the State of Civil Society Report and CIVICUS Lens outputs, shaping the narrative.
- Designing media and social media strategies to promote research, reaching diverse audiences.
- Pitching stories to journalists and managing editorial processes, sharing powerful narratives.
- Creating visual content like infographics, making complex issues accessible.
- Organizing webinars and events, engaging the public in CIVICUS's mission.
- Collaborating with a multilingual team to produce and share content globally.
Qualifications: A Unique Blend of Skills
CIVICUS is looking for a talented individual with the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, political science, or related fields.
- Proficiency in English, with intermediate skills in French and/or Spanish.
- At least three years of relevant experience in communications or research.
- Knowledge of international civil society networks and intergovernmental institutions.
- Understanding of global media and social media landscapes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in social media messaging and content creation.
- Ability to simplify complex civic issues for various audiences.
- Basic design skills using tools like Canva.
